“Dike Si Mba” loosely translates to “the warrior, hero, or strong man from another land.” For many in the South-East, recent developments in healthcare infrastructure are becoming tangible evidence of federal presence and investment in the region.
Ndị Igbo, we have arrived in the South-East to showcase the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda in Igboland.
During the Presidential Media Tour in Enugu, we had the opportunity to inspect the newly established world-class Oncology Centre at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu.
What we saw was not a promise, not a campaign slogan, and not a political billboard. It was a fully built, fully equipped cancer treatment facility designed to provide advanced and life-saving care for thousands of Nigerians.
For decades, many cancer patients were forced to travel long distances, spend enormous sums, or seek treatment abroad. Today, because of this investment, quality oncology care is now much closer to the people of the South-East. Families battling cancer can access modern diagnostic and treatment facilities without the burden of leaving their region.
This project represents more than bricks, mortar, and medical equipment. It represents hope. It represents access. It represents the belief that every Nigerian, regardless of region, deserves quality healthcare.
Seeing the facility firsthand reinforces the reality that development is best judged by what can be seen, touched, and used by ordinary citizens. The Oncology Centre stands as one of the most significant healthcare investments in the South-East in recent years and demonstrates a commitment to strengthening Nigeria's healthcare system.
The conversation around marginalization will always exist in politics, but facts, infrastructure, and visible development deserve recognition wherever they occur. When hospitals are built, roads are completed, jobs are created, and lives are saved, the beneficiaries are not politicians—they are the people.
The Renewed Hope Agenda is no longer just a slogan on paper. In Enugu, it stands in concrete, steel, and state-of-the-art medical equipment, ready to serve generations of Nigerians.
