The Renewed Hope National Media Tour in Kogi State highlighted an integrated development agenda under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, enabled by strong federal-state partnership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Key Projects and Achievements

• ~ Rural Infrastructure~: A new 9-km road with four bridges in Okaito-Obagede-Ozuri-Ozokutu has reconnected isolated communities, easing access to markets, schools, and health facilities. This has revitalized local economies by reducing transport costs and enabling farmers to sell produce more easily. Communities expressed deep gratitude, noting the road fulfilled a decades-long dream.

• ~ Lokoja Ultramodern~ Market: A major 36-month project (currently 50% complete) featuring 1,800 shops, lock-ups, warehouses, a hypermarket, clinic, fire station, and bank. It aims to decongest the old Ataku market and create a modern, organized commercial hub.

• ~Education~ – Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH): Built on continuity between previous and current administrations, the university on 400 hectares is rapidly expanding. TETFund (federal) funded several faculty complexes, while the state government built the Faculty of Engineering, College of Medical Sciences, and a 33KVA power line serving the campus and nearby communities. Initiatives include a Barefoot Renewable Energy College and Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant for clean energy skills.

• ~Healthcare: ~Upgraded primary health centres with improved facilities, though staffing shortages remain a challenge that the government is addressing.

Federal-State Synergy

Increased FAAC allocations from the fuel subsidy removal have provided states like Kogi with greater fiscal capacity. This has enabled accelerated project delivery across roads, education, and other sectors. Officials and communities repeatedly credited President Tinubu’s policies, pledging strong political support for his 2027 re-election.

The tour portrayed Kogi as a “living laboratory” of the Renewed Hope Agenda — demonstrating tangible dividends of democracy through roads, markets, education, and healthcare. It emphasized active community partnership, political gratitude, and a model of collaborative governance that connects rural areas, boosts commerce, and invests in human capital. Kogi is “on the move,” with the Renewed Hope Agenda as its driving force.
