Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully foiled an attempted abduction by suspected ISWAP terrorists following an attack on a secondary school in Borno State.
According to reports from one of the rescued teachers, the terrorists had initially succeeded in abducting teachers and students who were sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations before troops swiftly responded to the incident.
The witness stated that the soldiers arrived with overwhelming firepower and deployed gun trucks, forcing the terrorists into a fierce gun battle. Unable to withstand the military's offensive, the insurgents abandoned their captives and fled the scene.
As a result of the operation, 10 abducted victims were rescued unharmed, while security forces also recovered seven motorcycles belonging to the fleeing terrorists.
However, the operation came at a heavy cost. A brave Nigerian soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation.
The successful rescue underscores the continued commitment of Operation HADIN KAI to combating insurgency and protecting communities in Nigeria's North-East. The courage, professionalism, and sacrifice of the nation's security personnel remain deserving of the highest respect and appreciation.
