UPDATE: During the rescue operation, security forces successfully apprehended eight suspected kidnappers, who are currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Several other members of the criminal gang were neutralised during the operation.
Authorities have clarified that there was no ransom payment or prisoner exchange to secure the victims' release. Contrary to the kidnappers' demands, a notorious kingpin whose release was requested remains in custody and is currently being prosecuted for his crimes and atrocities.
The relevant security agencies are expected to provide a comprehensive account of the operation in due course.
