THE RENEWED HOPE MEDIA TOUR IN KADUNA STATE

The Renewed Hope Media National Tour in Kaduna State unfolded as a robust demonstration of policy implementation, infrastructure expansion, and governance visibility under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the media team undertook a series of high-level inspections across strategic development projects in the state.

A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of Section 1 and Section 2 of the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway, where ongoing construction works reflected renewed federal determination to complete one of Nigeria’s most vital transport corridors. The project, designed to significantly reduce travel time between the Federal Capital Territory and the North West, continues to stand as a flagship symbol of improved national connectivity, enhanced road safety, and economic integration. Observations from the site indicated steady progress, adherence to engineering standards, and a strong emphasis on durability and long-term value.

The media delegation included senior presidential aides and communication strategists such as Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Chief Sunday Dare, Tunde Rahaman, Tope Ajayi, Otega Ogra, and Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, alongside representatives of the Federal Ministry of Works and other government officials. Their presence reinforced the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and direct field-based assessment of ongoing projects.

A central feature of the Kaduna engagement was the “Renewed Hope Night” hosted by Governor Uba Sani at the Kaduna State Government House. The event served as a strategic interface between government and the media, drawing over 60 media organisations from television, radio, print, and digital platforms. It provided a structured platform for presenting governance achievements, policy direction, and sectoral reforms in Kaduna State.

The programme commenced with formal opening remarks by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, who underscored the importance of accurate, responsible, and development-oriented journalism in strengthening democracy and public trust. His remarks framed the engagement as a partnership between government and the media in shaping national discourse.

This was followed by a documentary presentation highlighting key reforms and developmental strides under the administration of Governor Uba Sani. The presentation provided a visual narrative of progress across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and social development, illustrating ongoing transformation efforts across the state.

The Commissioner of Agriculture delivered a detailed presentation on agricultural reforms, focusing on initiatives aimed at strengthening food security, improving access to farm inputs, and empowering rural farmers. The presentation emphasized the government’s drive to boost productivity, reduce dependency, and promote sustainable agricultural development.

The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency provided an extensive briefing on infrastructure development, outlining major road construction and rehabilitation projects across urban and rural communities. He noted that these interventions have significantly improved connectivity, enhanced economic activities, and opened up previously underserved areas for development.

The Commissioner of Health presented a comprehensive overview of reforms in the health sector. Key achievements include the establishment of a 300-bed specialist hospital, upgrades to major health facilities, installation of modern medical equipment such as oxygen plants and neonatal units, and improved healthcare workforce welfare. He also highlighted enhanced salary structures for health workers and expanded recruitment programmes aimed at strengthening service delivery across the state.

In the education sector, Prof. Usman Abubakar Zaria outlined far-reaching reforms, including the construction of over 2,300 classrooms, sponsorship of hundreds of thousands of students for national examinations, support for vulnerable candidates, and extensive teacher training programmes. He further emphasized ongoing efforts to improve school monitoring systems and strengthen education quality across all local government areas.

A cultural performance by the Kaduna State Ministry of Information added vibrancy to the evening, showcasing the state’s rich cultural diversity and reinforcing themes of unity, identity, and peaceful coexistence.

Concluding the presentations, Mr. Bayo Onanuga commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their visible commitment to governance delivery. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between government and the media in ensuring that development efforts are effectively communicated to citizens across the country.

Day 2 of the tour featured further strategic inspections. At the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in Kaduna, the team observed a modern healthcare facility equipped with advanced medical infrastructure across multiple specialties. The hospital reflects ongoing reforms aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare and improving service delivery standards in the state.

The delegation also inspected the Kano–Kaduna–Maradi Rail Project, where approximately 66 percent completion has been recorded. The rail line, a major regional infrastructure project, is expected to transform transportation and trade by linking Nigeria to the Niger Republic, reducing logistics costs, and enhancing cross-border economic activity. It stands as a critical investment in regional integration and long-term economic growth.

At Tudun Biri, the team visited a community previously affected by a drone incident, where extensive reconstruction efforts are currently underway. The Federal and Kaduna State Governments have jointly delivered housing units alongside a mosque, church, and healthcare facility, reflecting a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, reconciliation, and community restoration. The area now reflects growing stability and renewed social cohesion under the current administration.

The tour also included a visit to the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development (VTSD) in Rigachikun, Igabi Local Government Area, where a large-scale youth empowerment programme targeting 30,000 beneficiaries annually was highlighted. The initiative is designed to equip young people with practical, market-relevant skills, promote entrepreneurship, and reduce unemployment through structured capacity-building programmes.
